About Us

In response to an identified need from the equine industry, the Inaugural meeting to establish Equine eLearning Limited by the New Zealand Pony Club Association was held on 29 January 2003.  The sole Shareholders are the NZPCA and the appointed Board of Directors reports directly to the NZPCA.  In 2010 current Board members are Marian Galvin (Chair) Nicky Williams, Marj Steiner, and Leigh Wills.

Equine eLearning offers the knowledge components of NZQA unit standards and these continue to be available secondary schools via the Gateway Programme and to students and individuals who have access to a computer at home. These unit standards are credited towards NCEA and National Certificates in Equine.

EeL was initiated to encourage students with an interest in equine studies a pathway to a nationally recognised qualification and to encourage people to stay in the industry while studying.

When students have completed the on-line work of the knowledge component, Equine eLearning and the Equine Industry Training Organisation can assist with work experience placements and assessment of the practical components of the unit standards throughout New Zealand.

Equine eLearning Limited is a member of the NZ Equine Education Trust, a registered PTE (Private Training Establishment), which is directly responsible to NZQA and industry for Quality Management Systems and moderation.

Our student on-line work is marked by our contracted Tutor team –

Kerry Currie, Deborah Freeman, Dinah Booth & Sally Field-Dodgson; who also assist with writing and upgrading unit standards. They are supported by our Editor, Steph Mann and our Administrator, Nicola Essex.

Equine eLearning works together with NZPCA, NZEquine ITO,

NZ Riding for the Disabled, NZ Thoroughbred Breeders, NZ Thoroughbred Racing, NZ Harness Racing, NZ Farriers Association, ESNZ and other training and coaching organisations and Greyhound Racing NZ.

In 2010, Equine eLearning Limited has moved to a web based E-site with an improved student management system. This site offers enhanced photographs, diagrams, links to video clips and information and learning material.  We are able to offer new courses and certificates in Coaching, Sport Horse and Care & Handling.
